I only knew Ian at Colchester hospital as a bed manager. He was always polite and friendly to me. Saddened to hear that he had recently retiredo ly to be taken so suddenly. Rest in peace Ian. Love to his family and friends

Hearing that Ian has passed away brings great sadness to me. Ian was one of the first people I worked with as a junior doctor. He was always very supportive and cheerful when we needed a helping hand and he became one of my favourite people to work with. I want to thank Ian for helping me get through my difficult on call shifts during my first year working in the hospital. I will remember him throughout the rest of my career and offer my deepest condolences to his loved ones.

Grief, I've learned, is really
just love,
It's all the love you want to give,
but cannot. All of the unspent
love gathers in the corners of your eyes,
the lump in your throat, and
the hollow part of your chest.
Grief is just love,
with no place to go.
Rest in peace my brother
